Auto Save

Auto Save is a user-specific setting available under File > Preferences > General. To enable the Auto Save feature, check the box next to Automatically save changes to record. When enabled, changes to the record are automatically saved when exiting that record. 

If Auto Save is not enabled and you move from one record to another, you will see the Save Changes dialog: 
  • Clicking Yes will save the changes and move on to the newly selected record.
  • Clicking No will discard any changes made to the previous record and allow you to move on to the newly selected record.  
  • Cancel will not move on to the newly selected record but stay on the current record where you can make additional changes or save the changes you have already made. 

Consider carefully if you want to enable Auto Save -- when you are prompted to  Save Changes, it means that something has changed in the record. For example, if you accidentally type something in a record but didn’t notice it, the Save option will alert you that something was changed.
