Contact Filtering
About Contact Filtering
Contact filtering allows you to manage the inflow of new contacts from devices outside the Outlook environment and determine if they belong in ContactEase.
Contact filtering options are set via the Database Settings window in the Power User interface. To enable contact filtering, go to:
- File > Preferences > Database Settings...
- Select Outlook > Settings
Options for contact filtering are located at the bottom of the window (see second screenshot).
Contact Filtering Options
Note: These options are global assignments and will affect all users.
- Do Not Sync - Mark Private: Selecting this option automatically marks new contacts flowing into Outlook from any device not using the CE form as Private. The user can change the contact from Private to Shared at their discretion.
- Sync - Assign Category: When selected, contacts will sync to the firm's ContactEase database. A special category (Contact Filtering:Review) is automatically assigned to these contacts. A designated Power User can then perform a search to review these contacts and take appropriate actions. See additional steps below.
- Sync - Contact Filtering Off: Select this option to disable contact filtering. When contact filtering is disabled, all contacts will sync to the firm's ContactEase database.
Click OK to save your selection.
