Checking Duplicates Against an Imported List
The following process will help make it easier to check duplicates against an imported list.
One way to make the cleanup process easier is to assign imported records a special Field or Category
that can be used to easily identify the new contacts when running a duplicate check.
Field Method
In the first example, we’ll add a new Field. To create a Field in ContactEase, go to File > Preferences > Customize Fields.
Be sure to name the Field something easy to identify (the source of the list, for example).
When preparing your list to be imported, be sure to add a column for the import source (i.e. the name of the field you created) and adding that name into the cells below. In this example, we've labeled the import source as 2019
Business Summit List.
Import the list. Once complete, you'll run a standard duplicate check. Remember: this will search for duplicates in the entire database.
Next, you’ll add the Import Source field (or the name you’ve given the field) to your column display so
that you can isolate the duplicates that were created from this import and go down through your list
merging them efficiently.
