Importing and Exporting Data
Importing data into ContactEase is a fast and easy way to add records. For example, you may find it an easy way to add a lateral hire's contacts to the database or registration lists your receive as part of a sponsorship.
You can also export contacts from ContactEase, send the spreadsheet to a lawyer to edit, and import it back into ContactEase to update records.
When exporting from ContactEase, be sure to include the ContactID as the first export field. This is how ContactEase identifies existing contacts and can update them with new information.
Marking New Records
To keep track of records imported into ContactEase, you can assign a special category or field to the records being imported. There are a couple of ways to do this:
- Create a category for new records so that all new records imported into the database are assigned this category. Doing so allows you to easily view them, make changes, or even delete them.
- Add a column to the spreadsheet and map to the category.
