Who Knows Whom

One of the main benefits of a CRM is to better understand the relationships that exist within a firm.

Marked By (Outlook Synchronization)
For firms that synchronize ContactEase with Outlook this is easily determined because the system tracks users' contacts and automatically creates a link when synchronization occurs. This information appears on a contact record as Marked By and displays either the user's network login ID or the display name. as in the first example shown.

Known By (No Synchronization/Marketing Only)
For firms that don't synchronize with Outlook (sometimes referred to as a Marketing Only implementation), categories are a good way to track relationships. In the second image shown, we have created a category called Known By and a subcategory for each user in our (very small) firm.

Using Known By and Marked By
Sometimes firms use both methods. This often happens when a firm is implementing ContactEase slowly and starts with imported data. They will begin with the category method and eventually move to Marked By.  Until all users are synchronized, the initial designation should remain to identify the firm's relationships.
